Yes, but for a few years, President Obama said that the biggest threat to this world was global warming and we had sequestration. I'm sure you've experienced it. I even remember where we had one drill cancelled in 2011 due to the government shutdown. You are right, it's been a cold war Redux since about 2003. Boris Yeltsin regretted making Vladimir Putin his replacement

In 2011 I had just gotten back from OEF... Which I think started in 2001. People are still serving and sacrificing all

We’ve been engaged with Russia is proxy wars for decades. That’s the only level we’ll ever be engaged at. I don’t think Putin would go as far as causing a complete economic destabilization of the world given that everyone’s economies are intertwined.

Russia does not have strategic logistics to wage a war against the US. Quick debilitating strike yes. Prolonged war no.

They don’t really have the ability to project their force like we do either. They’d have to try to suck us into something in a place like Syria or Ukraine.

Really wish Russia would go back to calling itself the Soviet Union so that people wouldn't forget all the things they've been doing since the end of WWII. What we see today is increased activity from their current levels for sure, but only at about 1/3 the Cold War level.
