On the other hand, the race to get the EMERGENCY funding for a CRASH PROGRAM to develop the Extended Agility Glide Lift Engagement [EAGLE] Counter-missile is going to be fun to watch.
I suspect that Mr. Putin has learned the lesson that the USSR fell apart because it went broke trying to play "catch up" to American defence development announcements and is playing the same game back.

What?! Russians can't build things properly? Their aircraft, ships, and subs have always been a match for ours. Not even the F-22 has a guaranteed outcome vs a MIG-29.

Little Aggravating for the Russian Cosmonauts watching that damn thing fly underneath them on the Space Station and watching the Big Grin or their American Counterpart up there with them.

Well PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, last time we got into a cold war with Russia everyone sat around feeling super tense and we put people on the moon. Net benefit maybe? Perhaps another one and we'll put a colony on mars just to say we beat them to it.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I think Russia and America are the best example of sibling countries we got. Not because of any similarities, but because of our contrasting characteristics. We are foils for each other, the Soviet Union provided the incentive for us to do amazing things just by triggering that classic American trait of one-upmanship. Just like two bickering brothers who will never see eye to eye but find any reason to try and out do each other.
