I think they are just testing their ability to see the F-22 fighter during intercept.
Adjusting the equipment, then coming back.

It's too bad that bu_thole at the Kremlin is going to eventually force us to kill some fine young Russian pilots. Those kids are no less patriotic than ours, but they are in the service of a very bad man.
Why do so many people believe that it is better to kill hundreds or thousands of regular soldiers when you can solve the problem by killing a few or sometimes, only one?

Back in the cold war days this was a regular occurrence. Maybe we are back to that.
