Hundreds of mercenaries from Russia's shadowy Wagner Group are operating in Libya, a leaked UN report says.
They have been supporting renegade general Khalifa Haftar's battle against the Tripoli-based government, it says.
Since 2014, Libya has been split between areas controlled by the sides.
Wagner is believed to have been involved in conflicts in Ukraine, Syria and elsewhere. The Russian government denies any state involvement in the militant group.

Shades of the Spanish Civil War. Russia is now openly trying to de-stabilize a nation and, perhaps, the whole region. Statically, Libya, represents a safe port for Rusdian ships moving out of the Black Sea, via the Dardanelles, giving them deep water ports in the Mediterranean Sea area.

Not quite sure what the point is in Libya. That country has a lot to sort out before it can make a lasting deal with anyone. And there are four factions - anyone's guess who comes out on top.
