I served during the Cold War. I was stationed in Germany from 1975-1977.

Many younger people do not understand just how close we came to war during those years, and the very real threat which existed.
The fact the Cold War ended without a WWIII means all of you who served during this era were successful SPC Margaret Higgins. Thank you for your service and protecting our Nation at such a fragile time.

Amen SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth. I agree that this is more of the same. Continuous incursions of Russian Bear bombers over American airspace and suspicious military positioning by Russian military makes for what I, and many others believe, may be events where Russia is trying to draw us into an international incident leading up to either another Cold War, or a war in general.

I think most all of us agree that it is exactly what Russia wants.
I can see the Navy making it mandatory that these “routine” reconnaissance missions begin having fighters escort them (F-14’s against SU-27’s were a good match, looks like we may see how our next generation fighters can do).
