I’m a bit ignorant on field combat as a Navy guy, but the reason submarines pull the fuses on our electronic emission equipment, is the source and location of the transmission can be located and destroyed rather quickly.

There was a time when we had to consider such the standard for combat back in the Soviet days.... but then we assumed that we had superior systems and it stopped being practiced and applied... part of several items the Gulf War victory clouded over for decades afterwards.

We trained for that in the 80's. Border duty was a challenge at times. Might be time to dust off some of the older manuals .

LTC Eric Udouj - Directional antennas and if in a static position the 2niner2 went up , had to keep transmissions short and move often. The mortars and artillery had to move after a fire mission or get ready for counter fire. Been awhile for me but there were things we took as a matter of course.
