I was in a camp about 5 miles away on that day. The LAV drivers that got killed by friendly fire were in our compound the day before. I remember laying on the berm that night, waiting to see if we were going to defend the compound that day. Across from us was a hospital and a harrier launch area. Behind us was an Army compound of some sort. Who knows, I may have met you back then.
Years later, I met on of the Recon Marines who was in Kafji that day, it was a good reason to buy beer.

The first night the NBC alarms went off over in the Marine camp and put us all in MOPP for at least two hours.

As I recall, and this is more than 20 years, the ASP was to the west of us, we are right along the coast I always thought they were trying to hit the harriers.
Going to Mopp 4 in real life sure was exciting for me. I was sort of hoping to avoid actually using Mopp gear. Then we got rained on and didnt have replacement mopp gear. I remember my 1st Sgt losing his mind over that.

yeah we had to be within a few hundred yards of each other. We moved west on that last MSR before you crossed into Kuwait/Iraq and built a very large EPW compound with lots of lights.

We were close, you guy's were HQ element near the Port, I think. We were near the black top main High way 8. The big Engineer camp, everyone came to us for everything. You name it we had all the lumber and Engineering stuff for the war. We also built the left hook road that everyone used to hook around. I was on a small task Force attached too 1st Recon for sometime. I believe we also had some guy's building the K-Spans for the EPW camp.
