I've written about Sammy L. Davis because I helped investigate and document the action for which he was awarded the MoH. Of the four that I worked on, his was my favorite. He was one of the most genuine people I ever met

SGT (Join to see) - Generally true. However, our division had a policy of pulling them off the front line while the award was processed. They were assigned to some duty at the division headquarters and few were comfortable with it. Great combat infantryman sometimes make for poor garrison troops. Davis, of course, didn't have that problem. He was medivaced following the action for which he was cited. Still, given his nature, I suspect that he would be a good soldier wherever chance found him.

What an amazing story of courage and survival told by a survivor. Thanks for this share and historical moment in time.

CPT Jack Durish - Davis was an artilleryman I believe Jack. The FSB's did take a lot of flack back then. I brought supplies up to a few of them from Camp Eagle and I know I wouldn't want to have been assigned to one.

SGT (Join to see) These heroes have two things in common courage, and disregard for their own safety.
