I don't see the basis for the apparently widespread perception of de Becker as a security expert. (Maybe he is a legitimate expert, but you couldn't tell why from looking at the web.) I google him, and all I see is name-dropping. Most people learn the fundamentals of how to do something - somewhere. For example, people on this forum learned how to do their military jobs mostly in the military. Jumping from "I know a lot of celebs and they pay me to sort out which nutjobs that are obsessed with them are more dangerous than the others," to attributing a hacked phone to a foreign intelligence service is a bit of a long leap for me to digest without more info.
