Savage Struggle for Peleliu

I can't imagine being on the wrong end of a Flame Thrower, but many times they couldnt get the Japanese out any other way. The battles in the Pacific were horrible because of their Code of Honor.

There are those who say the battle for Peleliu shouldn't have been fought and we should have bypassed the island. I lean towards the battle was needed, even though it cost us dearly.

Sometimes I wonder why we didn't just let all the islands rot the Japanese away? Once Midway was over we commanded the seas. But that's the Itty bitty peace in in me.
