This reminds me of the most commonly heard question in Vietnam, voiced by newbies... "Is that incoming?" Yes, I asked it a couple of times myself and always received the same response. "No, that's outgoing. You'll know it's incoming when you hear it." ...and I did. The difference between artillery firing and artillery/mortar rounds detonating is very distinctive
