There are some views contrary to this one and there have been a number of studies since 1950. There is even a Rand Corporation report done in 2001 with speaking points that are almost the same as this article, but appears to come to a different overall conclusion - https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/2007/MR1272.pdf. Here are some articles discussing some of this - http://www.educationworld.com/a_issues/issues349.shtml, why-are-students-military-base-schools-out-achieving-their-civilian-peers, http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/12/education/military-children-outdo-public-school-students-on-naep-tests.html?_r=0
You may even want to read the following study - March toward Excellence: School Success and Minority Student Achievement in Department of Defense Schools. A Report to the National Education Goals Panel. Lessons from the States. - For full text: http://www.negp.gov/report/DoDFinal921.pdf or at http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED459218.pdf

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Great article. Military brats are different and many are exposed to lot more that the average civilian's kids. I was an Army brat, I remember my dad taking me to life fire demonstrations and such. How many of the civilian kids would ever to to experience some of these things. It was rough, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thanks for the Flashback. Lived on Bolling AFB for a bit and remember a Veterans Celebration on base and they brought all kinds of Paraphernalia. I remember seeing my Young Son on top of some Armored Personnel Carrier aiming the very large caliber gun across the Potomac River at Reagan/National Airport. Good thing it wasn't loaded.

They afraid the kids will go postal on them? I think the schools are becoming too paranoid.

I can only make an experienced, educated guess from my own personal experience. I think that "Military Brats" in a lot of categories are better at adapting since they have to from the get go in the Diverse Communities in Military Housing and Outside.
