Interesting information. I do agree that the site should be left intact and alone. It truly is sacred ground and its a tomb for those sailors who went down with the ship.

To stand on that memorial and see the outline of the ship below, knowing that many of our fighting men are still aboard, is an experience like none other. RIP.

GySgt John Olson - I have a thumbs up because that information is greatly appreciated, even though it is incredibly sad, but very heroic and honorable.
It is so easy to focus on those things that we force ourselves to remember. I sometimes get the feeling that the presence of the Arizona underscores the scope of that day.
We visit that Memorial, and think it was terrible, but can't even comprehend the scope and stress of the situation and the sailors, Marines, soldiers we lost, especially those sailors who were placed in their steel coffins before they had even died; waiting on a rescue that would come too late.
Thank you for sharing and opening our eyes to the "bigger picture."
Much gratitude:
Michael

SSgt Gary Andrews - Very sad indeed. Try to imagine being stuck in tons of metal just waiting to run out of oxygen, many lasting over a weak trying to hold on to a sliver of hope.
I can't imagine it, not in a way that would help me understand it any better. Heartbreaking.
