The page I past sent in has a link to this for the PDF...it:s clearly some time of phosphorescent or fluorescent effect, quite possibly ionospheric as discussed here....I wouldn't think it beyond geomagnetic origin, or possibly cosmos wind or geomagnetic substorm based as well, though that's !erely a surmise on my part, of course....
On the Origin of STEVE: Particle Precipitation or Ionospheric Skyglow? - Gallardo‐Lacourt - -...
One of the recent developments in ionospheric research was the introduction of a subauroral spectacle called STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement). Although STEVE has been documented by amateur night sky watchers for decades, it is an exciting new upper atmospheric phenomenon for the scientific community. Observed first by amateur auroral photographers, STEVE appeared as a narrow luminous structure across the night sky....
There's a similar phenomenon over one of the Nordic countries in Europe generating a spiral effect, I believe termed the Hessdalen spiral...his rather reminds me of that in character, even if not necessarily in shape, certainly....
Mysterious Aurora-Like Lights Above Canada Continue to Confuse Scientists
New research into a strange atmospheric effect known as STEVE has failed to associate its enigmatic lights with aurora, pointing to the presence of an entirely new type of atmospheric phenomenon.
