I would be interested in the input of females here on this subject. It sure isn't a matter of ability or patriotism and with the current volunteer system both Men and woman can certainly enter and there is no question both are needed ! As to the draft there are thing women have to contend with like giving birth to children, which is also important so I'm not so sure about forcing a draft on them. That may not be a factor with every woman but if it was done I don't see how you could exclude some while making other subject to the draft. That would be My only reservation which certainly has nothing to do with qualifications. I'm not sure how all women feel about this, I imagine that may be different opinions depending on the person. I would be interested though on their thoughts on this subject if the draft is used again.

The argument has been fought that having babies should not effect their assignment opportunities and while I agree with you that females really should be the ones to comment, I think a good portion already have. They wanted combat arms and ranger school and while this might not be in my daughter's best interest, fair across the border is fair.

I have no problem with assignments once they are already in the Armed Forces, everyone serves then at the needs of the Government. The question was strictly if a draft were used again, which is NOT voluntary entry, should that include both males and females ? Those males or females that enter the service as Volunteers though should already have some concept of what the are getting into. Like any job, You take the job then You take the responsibility. Women already have entered Military Career fields that were at one time only for male service members, that's fine also and like anyone complete the required training to qualify and many already have and will continue to do so. These are not questions about the draft however.

I don't see how the ability to conceive has anything to do with the question of whether or not there should be a requirement to register with the Selective Service. I could see how pregnancy could get you, say, a two year deferrment if there ever was a draft, and of course single parents and the spouses of servicemembers with children would have to be exempted.
