Serving in 2 ID from 98-00 and again 01-02, it didn't matter what time the curfew was nor did it matter when the troopers got back on post. The first question leaders had during accountability upon an alert readiness drill was "how many Soldiers are drunk or hung over?" As a Tank PL, that was funny my first alert but I stop laughing by the 3rd or 4th one. In 02-03, I shifted to EUSA and laughed at how they complained about their new curfew. Damn they were spoiled.
This extra hour doesn't mean much when the alert recall could come at 0200 or 0500 or 1100. Damn you, General Honore, for ruining our BBQ that Sunday. Haha!

I was stationed above the "no smile line" from 00-01 and all of 04..curfew was relative to who was staff duty. Assigned to the Cav both times, we had a camp 6km off the DMZ and 138 soldiers living there. So curfew was a notional idea on most weekends..

I was at Garryowen 01-02 before heading south to work with TROKA. Always enjoyed the cab rides between TDC and GO to beat curfew and made drunks puke. I think the record is still 15 min from what I've heard.

When I served on the DMZ in 1972, there was always a curfew at 2400hrs., we were told and did get off the streets, if you were in a club, the MP's would escort you out and return you back to camp.
We all knew that we were responsible to abide with the 2400hrs curfew. There were multiple check points on the roadways after 2400hrs, all manned by the ROK, if you were stopped after curfew, then you were released to the US MP's to take you back to the camp.
Most of us GI's while down town used the curfew as an excuse to stay the night with one of the club girls, due to we couldn't be on the streets after 2400hrs.

Hated it when 2ID got their Warrior Pass. Everyone in Area 2 (I was at Camp Coimer), KNEW someone was going to get their asses kicked, and on more than one occasion we were restricted to post, weren’t allowed out after 0001, or 2ID came down and killed someone in a drunken rage.
Damn heathens!!! How did those folks not kill each other on that road separating Hovie and I forget the other one. I heard a LOT of stories FA whooping some serious ass there

Spent my time at Casey-Hovey and Garryowen. Warrior Pass wasn't something my command just handed out. Had to be earned. Had one CO who abused it; not to mention his wife also abused it by just having access to those passes (don't ask why). Who brings their wife to an unaccompanied tour and has her living in an apartment in town?
I was amazed there weren't more alcohol related accidents just among the Korean population the way they drive after "last call".

MAJ James Woods - "Who brings their wife to an unaccompanied tour and has her living in an apartment in town?" I wonder how many times did this come up in back channel meetings? NO ONE DOES, and how did she manage to stay like that is amazing. I knew a SPC who tried after having a kid, but he only stayed a few months...she hit her DEROS during the time.
Casey would be great if you we able to come through the man gate nude being they were going to search the hell out of everything (and you), had towers everywhere, if you weren't one of y'all, everyone could spot you with no trouble (as if there was some secret 2ID handshake), some NCO ALWAYS yelling at someone for something, somewhere, on Casey.
If I HAD to do it over, I'd rather be pissed everyday at Casey (make time go faster) or CRC than spend a pissed off tour at the Hump. Wouldn't do Seoul again.
