In an interview this week with CNN, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson described as a “travesty” the civil lawsuit that led 10 Republican fake electors last week to retract an official-looking document claiming former President Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election in Wisconsin.
“These folks did nothing different than what many Democrats have done in many states throughout our history,” Johnson said in Monday’s interview. “Democratic electors have done that repeatedly.”
When CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins asked the Oshkosh Republican to back up that claim, Johnson said he wasn’t prepared to do so in the moment but promised to provide examples later.
