Many times during my ten years as a Training Instructor I ran across trainees like this. One in particular was an individual who was borderline overweight, always had a blank stare, and wore size 16 EEE shoes. He was a real challenge. He was just like Pvt Pyle in the movie full metal jacket. He ended up being discharged due to medical reasons. Giving this kid a piece of bubble gum and forward march would lead to his demise. Yes he was that bad.

MSgt Don Dobbs I went through boot camp with one like that. We are doing basic maintenance on the M14, step by step reassembly. Bubba had an extra piece when he was done, the bolt. Thanks for refreshing some long forgotten memories
