It appears to me that many European nations are helping arm Ukraine to fight the Bear, so they don't have to. Is that not what we are doing also?
Necessary? Of course. Appeasement never works.
BTW, the best thing that ever happened to this undereducated country boy was various assignments overseas. Yes, even to Vietnam. I got educated by being exposed to other cultures. When I returned I was ready to settle down and get a more formal education. It all worked together.

Remember when NATO members began increasing their contributions to their common defense? Yes, that was when President Trump "encouraged" them. We need more of that kind of "encouragement" now.

Trump did not encourage NATO defense spending. He encouraged Russia to attack Europe.

Trump says he would 'encourage' Russia to attack Nato allies who do not pay their bills

LTC Eugene Chu - NATO's policy of expansion into former Soviet states "encouraged" the Russians to react. How long did Russia have a presence in the Ukraine? 400 years? NATO bullied Serbia after the Breakup of Yugoslavia and pushed NATO membership way outside of the original parameters of the alliance. It lost it's purpose after the fall of the Soviet Union and the Alliance has just been used for Military Adventurism since.
