Good to know, but those foods are not always effective for those with a history of depression.

SGT (Join to see) - Some of us are genetically predisposed. I eat all those foods and, just like you, they do not help me!

SGT (Join to see) - Everything they have listed I either do, or don't do. I don't eat junk foods and I don't drink. This wasn't a scientific research. What I got was it seemed to help with depression in kids, and what the foods contain are known to help depression. I'm just probably too screwed up for them to help.

SGT (Join to see) - I doubt that. You seem lucid to me. LOL. I think diet does effect young people. You should see what they eat. Mrs. Obama tried getting healthier foods in school cafeterias, but she was criticized for doing so. I have seen those meals, and I can attest to fact that they cannot be good for the students. Rarely do they have or eat any vegetables. Most of the foods are high calorie or fried. It is sad. I remember when they said ketchup was a vegetable, and that is about the only "vegetable" they eat!

SGT (Join to see) I am not big on milk-don't drink alcohol--and seldom indulge in any type of 'junk' food.Most of the food mentioned here is good for you,whether it helps with depression or not.Like you,i eat a lot of chicken and turkey.Fresh fish are a regular meal at my house and i love greens of any type.

SSgt Terry P., I'm not much on greens but my wife makes sure I eat them. I do love milk. I have learned to pace myself drinking milk. I'm getting older and I have to watch my weight to remain healthy. That does help me with depression when I feel good about myself, depending on what day it is. Today's a good day.
