Thank you, my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for posting the link to this article focused on the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center and especially the Small Arms Weapons Expert Course

With extensive training like this why would the army need to set an age eligibility at no younger than 26. The younger recruits would be way ahead of the older guys.

With that criteria, several soldiers on the Army marksmanship unit would not be able to teach or attend (unless you are going to have instructors who do not be criteria to attend the course they are teaching). Given, this is a national guard course, but if the age restriction really was a quality criteria then it should apply to the active duty side as well. Age/experience can be a significant hindrance. We want people who are really eager to learn, not people who already know it all. A lot of times people defend the way they have always done things despite that methodology not being doctrinally sound. In that case I'd rather take a brand new recruit from basic training who is really eager to learn.

SFC(P) (Join to see) I was talking about another article where the powers that be (or some of them) want to give enlistment bonuses totaling $250,00 and keeping the minimum age at 26. I saw first hand how someone with an idea got it through.
