Great news -- and may the future generations only have to ask old me about the pox shot scars (x3) on my arm

As a kid I was jealous of those that had the scars on their arms. Mine was healed over and almost impossible to see. The summer of 1986 I got my shots from the Army Medics. That small pox pimple swelled up like a nasty boil. I kept trying to protect it with Band-Aids. One day during a rush to get in the barracks door someone shoved me into the rough brick wall and I had it pealed off flat. Damn it blead. So in the summer of 1987 during AIT were were told to have our shot records so we could skip getting repeated shots, yeah right. One day before being sent to our units the Sergeants told us to get into formation, we were going to be getting our shots. Someone said they had their records in their foot lockers, actually the majority of did. The sergeants just laughed and made us all go through again. My scars tell the story of the foolish things I've done in my life.

SMSgt David A Asbury - Mine never scared up like the other kids. I guess I have to go deep to scar up. My first hair cut in Basic sure showed a lot of scars and bumps though.
