Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on May 19, 2007 Smart USA launched a cross-country road show to introduce its “ultra-urban” microcar.
Selecting the name Smart was a wonderful choice for a company name. However when its ventures proved to be less than smart in vision and success it led to ridicule in some quarters.

TSgt. You Sir keeps us posted on auto history. Thank You. I always find it interesting and still receive the car magazines. But the Smart car isn't my cutoff tea. To small and would only be considered a town car to me.

A micro-car would be of little use in Montana. We usually or at least often have sizeable accumulations of snow & ice on our roads for a good 6 months or more of the year. We have great snow removal trucks and crews throughout the state but some roads really get deep. Vehicle traffic causes ice accumulation which can be difficult to remove, especially outside town limits. Four wheeled drive or a comparable setting plus weighted axles are a necessity. I had a Chevy Geo when I first moved to Montana and got stuck in it several times. I learned first hand the truth I have written!

Yeah, just sold my Oldsmobile, only taking the Chevy Colorado with us up to Montana SSgt Robert Marx. We'll be living on base and work is only about 10 minute walk.
