Pretty bad ass round. I have fired it, and if it wasn't for the long barrel I think it would've broke my wrist. Not really, but it was violent. As far as equaling a rifle, the S&W .460 actually performs better with a longer barrel. Neither one are a joy to shoot for very long though! LOL

I like the .460 better than the .500. Much more versatile. I own one of the 5” barrel models (they don’t make them anymore). The .460 gives you the advantage of shooting the .460 S&W, the .454 Casull, and the .45 Long Colt ammo. You can shoot it all day with the .45LC. If you want a grizzly bear killer the .460 S&W, with a 200 grain Hornaday SST bullet, 2200fps, will do the job nicely.

SMSgt Thor Merich - Much more versatile, and as you say it will shoot anything. Some folks are stuck on the biggest number. Gotta go with a .500!

I once fired a revolver chambered in .45-70. Didn't find it particularly enjoyable, and not sure I'd want to try something with a lot more wallop. To each their own, I suppose.
