So long, platoon sergeants! Army begins turning AIT instructors into drill sergeants

I was in fact a AIT instructor at Ft,Polk La.back in 1967-68 ,at no time did I consider myself capable of doing the duties of a drill sergeant,the Army in it infinite wisdom has played back forth with interchangeable duties,let's hope they are making the right one now,by the way all my training before being sent to Vietnam was done by Platoon Sergeants.

My son is in AIT at Ft Eustis now (15D) and he likes having the DS’s there. He’s 21... almost 22... and says the discipline with the younger soldiers is well needed.
