Soldier dies after 2-mile run during fitness test at Fort Jackson

FORT JACKSON, S.C. — Army officials say a non-commissioned officer has died at Fort Jackson at the end of a physical fitness test.
Fort Jackson spokesman Patrick Jones said in a news release that the solider finished the final event in the test — a two-mile run — just before collapsing Thursday. He died at the hospital a short time later.
Jones says the soldier was from Delta Company, 120th Adjutant General Battalion and was attending a senior leadership course. His name has not been released.
The Army is investigating the death.

I can image the heat wave may have something to do with this. If you are not acclimated it is tough out there right now. My prayers go out to the family.

I ran mine last week and luckily didn't have a heart attack at 46. Sad. I watched a LTC die at Fort Meade after a walk. He was way overweight. Gotta be careful Soldiers.
