Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on June 17, 1885 the dismantled Statue of Liberty, which was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of America, arrived in New York Harbor after being shipped across the Atlantic Ocean in 350 individual pieces packed in more than 200 cases.
Since that point the Statue of Liberty has inspired more immigrants and visitors to this nation that anybody but God knows.

What a great symbol of freedom the Statue of Liberty has become, along with Ezra Pounds' poem inscribed on her tablet! The Ellis Island receiving point brought many millions from all of the nations who would shortly become embroiled in the tragic "Great War." That loss of life was unprecedented,.
