On July 4, 2009, the Statue of Liberty's crown reopens to the public after 8 years, due to security reasons following the World Trade Center attacks.

I did not know that the public could be in the crown; of the Statue of Liberty.

Haven't been to NYC in a while, but view from the crown was always amazing. Got to do the torch as a kid, but think that's closed to the public now.
