"Frozen conflicts are situations where armed conflict has virtually stopped, but a satisfactory political settlement has yet to manifest and terminate the conflict. Ukraine’s frozen conflicts are rooted in the Soviet policies of Joseph Stalin—where the Soviet Union would strategically relocate entire ethnic groups in its periphery so that ethnic Russians could resettle the vacated regions for geostrategic benefit. For the Soviets, this demographic insurance policy ensured that Moscow retained authority of crucial areas in the event of empire collapse or as a practical measure to clear the way for eventual military conflict with the West. Since the end of the Cold War, Russia has operationalized these seeds of conflict by supporting pro-Russian secessionist movements with political, military, and financial support."

What did the WTO try to do with Ukriane? Who supported the riots in Kiev that spread to the rest of the Ukraine?
Russia is no Saint. But, so are those that tried to seperate the Ukraine government from their Russian loans.
Half the people in Ukraine see themselves as Russian. What someone did (I wonder who) is keep 20,000 Russian troops on the border of Ukraine while Syria went belly up in conflict between McCain's rebels and government forces. Those so called moderates within Islam.
Someone is playing global games and the innocent are suffering LTC.

Well - it is not half the country --- its less than 1/5th. Think around 18% or so is Russian. Russian propaganda has played heavily in regards to the Ukraine.. more so than anywhere else.

It is not that I think my wife is 100% correct. She is from the Ukraine and she told me half.
That is why I stated half the country considers themselves Russian. But, I do not really know.
What does the west represent? No morality? Debt? Putin sided with the Orthodox Church. Most likely a political move as he appears ready to kill anyone that crosses him. Yet, he is a nationalist. Nationalism is big for Russia and so is the Church.
Why would anyone want to be govern by the WTO? The next financial crisis, the WTO is the only group that has enough money to handle it. A world currency looms.

Religion is one of those split lines even in the Eastern Orthodox church - with the upper 40s being the percent that folows the Ukrainian Orthadox Church and about 20 % the Russian. So you are right on the nationalism and the church... which has played big role in both countries since the communist retired it and it came back to being. As to what does the West offer... a chance to build a stable country and to remain a country. As to the WTO - I do not give them that much credit or credit of power..
