Teachers are expected to remain politically neutral. These Teachers of the Year say they can’t.

Any teacher in the public school system that gets political around my child, whether I disagree or agree with what they say, gets an irate visit, followed by an irate visit to the Principal, followed by an irate visit to the school board. I will work tirelessly to have them fired, and to enlist other parents in my cause. GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STAY IN ITS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! If action is not quick and decisive, I will remove my child from the school system. That is my kinder gentler version of how I feel about it.
My guess is that if your child or grandchild got a lecture about the "evils" of Secretary Clinton and the "divinity" of Mr. Trump would incur a similar wrath from you.
In the 80's I had to remove my daughter from pre-Kindergarten in the Kitsap County (Washington State) school system because teachers (yes, multiple) were publicly shaming the children of military service members and teaching children that it was OK to spike standing timber with nails to prevent logging. Fortunately, the threat of losing all the military dependent kids shook up the Kitsap County school board, and three teachers were replaced. 10 years later I put my kids in the Seattle school system for a semester and found similar conduct by multiple teachers. The Seattle school board agreed that service in the military was deserving of shame.
