It's a rare politician who can avoid the trap of attempting to answer every question put to them, especially those running for President. They're supposed to have all the answers, aren't they? That what we expect of them, isn't it? Ted Cruz is arguably the brightest candidate in the race. Hillary is the most ambitious and the least principled. Bernie Sanders is the most confused. Donald Trump is the most flamboyant. Jeb Bush is the most acceptable to the GOP establishment. Chris Christie is the fattest. And Martin O'Malley taxed rain. (Sorry, I couldn't resist that last one. It still makes me laugh no matter how many times I hear or read it.) Not one of them has all the answers and yet every one of them feels compelled to pretend that they do. No, we don't hear about all their faux pas, especially the Democrats, because the media covers for them.

This is why I'd like to see candidates run with their proposed Cabinet nominees alongside them. Presidents rely heavily on their advisers, the ones who will most influence their decisions as President.

On this issue, I think that all the candidates, Democrats as well as Republican, are running away from President Obama. They sense that the American public are disillusion with Obama's handling of diplomacy and his reticence to apply force where necessary. Sadly, they also don't seem to realize that the voting public, especially those who serve in the military, are smart enough to recognize the futility of heavy handed methods. They seem to think we'll just sit up and cheer all that chest thumping. Cruz included.

You know it's bad when Faux calls you out and you're a republican. My issue with this isn't who they called out, but where were they when the rest of the republican field was saying use force for everything under the sun? Why single out Cruz?

Call out GOP Candidates from this and the last two presidential elections for being morons when it comes to the military and CNN wouldn't have room for any other material.

SSgt (Join to see) - I don't understand what you mean false stories? Calling out Cruz and Trump are legit much in the same vein calling out Hillary is too. I'm not going to say flush the toilet of liberals being there are liberals who are close to the center the same way there are Cons who are too. When you fall into the extremes of either side, you are now about to be ostracized and find that you really are on your own ala Cruz and Pailin. I'd bet a happy meal (keeping the toy tho), that congress will revert back to Dem control next election cycle. Republicans came in on a wave of "changing the status quo", demanding a vote on War, and ending the Iran treaty and the ACA. None of which have happened. They allowed Tre Gowdy to look like a complete fool with this investigation with Hillary. Should the email server be the thing that takes Hillary out, Tre cannot take credit for that; nothing on it implicates her in regards to Bengazi (the emails that have been found are TS/SAP but nothing that concretely would connect her to what happened there), and there will be a fall guy much like Olie North was for Iran/Contra. Voters that are Republican leaning aren't going to forget that, and neither will Democratic ones who see blood in the water and they are the sharks. Trump will cost the Republicans the White House, and I think this not voting on important items will hurt them in controlling the two chambers.

So, one percent of the country has served in the military, and we're worried that a politician doesn't have military experience.

It sounds like what some people consider 'rational' is a stream of soldiers becoming politicians, which wouldn't really represent the population any more than the current system and would look like a military controlled government, rather than what the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were written to inspire.
There are still idiots that have served in the military, it doesn't make anyone inherently better than anyone else.
