Jack Daniel’s, one of the most well known whiskies in the world, is produced in a dry county (Moore, TN)!

How ironic. I wonder if the taste testers get fined for doing their jobs.

MSgt Neil Greenfield, even guests and tourists are allowed to drink (a taste, if you will) at the distillery, so I'm certain the taste testers have no trouble doing their jobs. By being a dry county, sales of alcohol are not allowed within the county!

Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on January 26, 1838 the first Prohibition law in the history of the United States was passed in Tennessee, making it a misdemeanor to sell alcoholic beverages in taverns and stores. The bill stated that all persons convicted of retailing “spirituous liquors” would be fined at the “discretion of the court” and that the fines would be used in support of public schools.

So what you are saying is that in 1838 Tennessee had solved the education funding issue.

CPT Pedro Meza - actually I think they attempted to solve it. :-)
LTC Stephen C. would be in a better position to let us know of Tennessee has been freed from education funding issues since Jack Daniel's is based there :-)
