I meant to build a reservoir for clean electric energy to power those electric cars. They forgot one thing, what about the hazardous material of all those old batteries?

Sometime in the late 1990's or early 2000's, California messed around with partial deregulation of electrical power. IIRC, they deregulated the supply side but not the retail side, and electric companies started getting into financial trouble. The ran into power supply issues and started having rolling brown-outs, earning then Governor Grey Davis the nickname Grey-out Davis (it was his recall election that ushered in Ahnold Schwarzenegger as Governor of California). In a panic, they got power from Texas (Enron), and they did it in the way that resulted in them paying as much as they possibly could for it. During this energy crisis, California made the decision to "fast-track" the construction of new electrical power plants. (AFAIK, to date, no new power plants have been built, though they have put in a bunch of windmills and solar farms.)
Of course, this put a large financial strain on the state. Not wanting to accept any responsibility for any of their decisions, they blamed Texas for their own electrical shortage. While all this is amusing to me, your posts reminded me of something else, and I had to give you the back story for it to be relevant.
While all of this either was going on or in the immediate rear-view, California passed a measure that required auto sales to eventually consist of at least 10% electric car sales, which of course recharge their batteries by plugging into the electric power grid. My first thought upon hearing this was, "Do these people have any clue where electric cars get their power from?" They're in the middle of (or recovering from) not even being able to power everyone's air conditioning without rolling brown-outs, and they want to increase the load on their power grid by converting a significant percentage of their traffic to electric?!? Such is the reasoning capacity of ecofreak liberals.

LMAO. Right on target... except so so so much more bland.
Sorry Steve, gotta call em like I see em.
Canada is a great example of one main tenet of socialism.
First you destroy the family unit then you destroy religion.
I am shocked when I go to Canada and see so few Church’s.
Even the big old ones in the larger towns are often pretty much shuttered up.
Look like old haunted mansions..
Not too cool. LTC (Join to see)
