SFC George Smith - Good to see you George, I thought you were long gone. Hope you are well.

Amazing shot. I’m curious what the terminal ballistics were. Watched a guy shoot a basketball at 1600 meters with a 6.5 Grendel. It just rolled the basketball a little. Barely nicked the leather.

SFC (Join to see) Very well then... Assume the mass reduces the velocity faster than standard bullets?

Among many things. There’s a lot that goes into calculating ballistic coefficient and terminal ballistics. Powder charge, bullet weight, temperature, barometric pressure, bore temperature, and at that range you even have to calculate for the corialis effect. It truly is a science. The guy who made the shot said his hold over was over 200” from a 100 meter zero, Cpl Benjamin Long

I guess I’m not sure what you mean by “standard”. Standard is usually whatever the industry decides works best depending on the caliber and the purpose and can vary slightly between manufacturers. “Standard” weight for a 6.5 Grendel can be between 118 and 124 grains, depending on the maker and the type of round. Other factors come into play as well, hollow point, penetrator rods, lead alloy recipe, ballistic tip, full metal jacket, flat or boat tailed projectile. Heavy rounds fly slightly slower but are usually more stable than lighter rounds. Barrel length effects range and velocity as well, and bullet weight and powder loads behave differently in long and short barreled rifles, Cpl Benjamin Long

SFC (Join to see) Well as was referring to the mass of the bullet because a referencing trajectory and gravity
