Here's where the article lost me: [North Korea could] "cross the DMZ and mount an attack on the south, its army could quickly defeat the south." Anyone who has been there knows, if USFK starts an attack, the ROK Army is all too ready to finish it. NK artillery is a real and present danger to Seoul, and many thousands of civilian lives will be lost. But traffic won' be going south on D+1 day. It'll be headed north.

Because the fighter pilot mafia doesn't like the aircraft, or the mission.

Maybe, but the troops on the ground love that bird. In Afghanistan I watched A-10's put bombs on target. I also watched F-16's fail to hit the target and future strikes by F-16's called off by the ground commander in favor of MLRS strikes instead. Pretty sad day for a pilot to be rejected in favor of artillery because you can't hit your target.

SSG (Join to see) beat me to it! The leaders (not necessarily Goldfein & Wilson) hate it because it's not pretty and shiny and doesn't make moviegoers get all googly-eyed.
It is every kids' fantasy of a sky-tank, though.
