i understand starting the Army JWTC school back up, but what a I don't understand is why duplication of effort and double spending on two different JWTC schools. The Marines have had the JWTC school in Okinawa for over 40 years and it is extremely hard course and school, also the training area is large. In a time when spending is a big deal why would you have two schools when you can have one, also this is good for Joint Training.
Just my 2 cents.

I think it would be a little expensive to ship soldiers to Okinawa for Jungle Warfare School.

WE need areas that can be used to train on all sorts of fronts, jungle, desert, woodlands, and Arctic type combat. I trained while in, for woodland and urban combat.

The Jungle Expert patch was never a permanent award, even when the school was in Panama. You could wear the patch while in the unit where you earned it, but couldn't wear it after you PCS'd. I earned the patch with the 101st in June 1982, could not wear it when I PCS'd to Korea in November 1982.
