I disagree with the premise of the article, that the first AI's will be corporate. Entire governments are working on super AI's, and with good reason: the first one to get it...wins. A Super AI will almost instantly be able to increase it's own intelligence, and there's nothing to stop it. Even a few hours' lead would be insurmountable to any other AI.

The author is confusing Corporate personage with actual personage. Most folks on the left 'hate' the concept of companies being 'legal' entities for the purposes of free speech.
He takes this idea to an illogical conclusion because he has not bothered to conduct basic research on how LLC work in every state.
Governments are interested in legal service and tax collection and having an actual person being the registered agent physically in the state of incorporation.
Example:
A Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) is a state level filing and must be done by a 'person' who is the registered agent.
Every Ohio LLC must have an agent for service of process in the state. This is an individual or business entity that agrees to accept legal papers on the LLC’s behalf if it is sued. The registered agent may be a Ohio resident or a domestic or foreign corporation authorized to do business in Ohio. The registered agent must have a physical street address in Ohio.
