My last aircraft, retired from B-1 wing in North Dakota in 93. Well let's see, my FB-111 is retired, B-1 is going, but my first aircraft, the B-52 keeps on going and going.

SSgt Christopher Brose Don't think any of them became operational though.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - They were a phase, sort of like the B-58 Hustler was. They worked, but they were of limited utility.

SSgt Christopher Brose Yes, all a victim of too small of a fleet purchase. At some point it is just not economically feasible to maintain a small fleet of aircraft. B-52 is still around because we had a huge fleet and while only the "H" model is still flying there are many common parts with those that are retired at Davis Monthan AFB.

Wow - It's hard to believe it's been around that long. What a beautiful bird.
