SGT John " Mac " McConnell, Funny story about this song. I bought a new Camero SS after I returned home. My brother in law and I went to Houston to apply for a job as a disc jockey. On the way home a huge storm, with high winds, came up. Hey Jude was on the radio and the wind blew my car sideways and we started spinning on I-45. Just as we started spinning, the part of the song "don't let me down" was on and my brother in law turned to me, and with his hands clasped together like he was saying a prayer, he looked at me and said "don't let me down". It was perfect timing. We spun down the overpass and ended up in grass in the esplanade. We looked back up the overpass and all the cars behind us had stopped and they were cheering and honking their horns. Everything was ok, and we drove away laughing.

If you could have seen his eyes and the color drained out of his face, it would be a lot more funny. Yes, I hear a song and it takes me somewhere. Soul music reminds me of basic training. Pop songs like "Monday Monday" reminds me of jump school because that's what they played, instead of revillee on our first day, which happened to be Monday. Imagine that! "Ain't Got No Sunshine When You're Gone" reminds me of Vietnam and flying in my Huey listening to to it on the UHF radio. Sorry, but it struck a cord with me.

Thanks for mentioning and honoring the Beatles song about John Lennon's son Julian who John called Jude SGT John " Mac " McConnell. John Lennon wrote the song after seeing how much his son struggled with after John divorced his mother and married Yoko Ono.
