Iraqi forces culminated in their attack - and are now reqrouping after heavy losses. Perhaps it was probably a very wise move - being that they are short in local reinforcements and to continue the attack into the meatgrinder would likely subject them to a counterattack in their seams. The 2d battle of Mosul will have alot fewer highly trained forces and alot more of less trained ones when the operation kicks off again... WWI tactics against a heavily armed and motivated mobile light infantry force. Add to that the effects of the massacres in Aleppo.... it is going to be a tough fight ahead in the 2d Battle.

Iraqi forces have no sense of nationalism. They are motivated through fear and will accept their new rulers rather than fight a sustained fight, especially against conventional forces.

If things start deteriorating, we will see more US forces deployed to bail out the ISF again.

When it does - it will be too late... wee will be stuck like the Iranians and throwing advisors into the fight trying to hold the line.... how many GOs have they lost just this year........
