There's plenty of dangers various cargoes present that people outside the industry never heard of. For example, grain dust, while loading or discharging grain, is vastly more explosive than the explosive potential of an oil tanker. A slacker sailor on a tanker will sneak a smoke on the fantail (which is actually perfectly safe. Liquid tanker tanks are inerted - there is no oxygen for ignition), while a grain ship sailor NEVER would. LNG ships contain more energy than small nuclear weapons. Improper ballasting of liquid cargoes can result in list or capsize...etc. The list goes on and on.
