Good “Monday” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader” from the beautiful mostly sunny skies of greater Boston... where the current temp is a beautiful 81° with a humidity of 58% and an expected high of 90° later in the day... (Please give my regards to Mark Kuzinski and his wife when you see him.)
“Tenderness Day!” Why Not?
1) "Tenderness is greater proof of love than the most passionate of vows." - Marlene Dietrich
2) "Love doesn't mean doing extraordinary or heroic things. It means knowing how to do ordinary things with tenderness." - Jean Vanier
3) "The sweetest music is not in the oratorio, but in the human voice when it speaks from its instant life tones of tenderness, truth, or courage." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
4) "The emotional wisdom of the heart is simple. When we accept our human feelings, a remarkable transformation occurs. Tenderness and wisdom arise naturally and spontaneously. Where we once sought strength over others, now our strength becomes our own; where we once sought to defend ourselves, we laugh." - Jack Kornfield
5) "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these." - George Washington Carver
Tenderness does not mean weakness and leaders know this, so remember that...
“Within a Warrior Leader’s heart there has to be a place for compassion and tenderness, along with confidence and courage!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

I expect you have become more consistently compassionate and tender towards others since your salvation. Hopefully are spiritually mature enough to be compassionate to strangers that cross your path and merciful when it is within your capability to be so. 'So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. [Philippians 2:1-2] Mark.
I pray you that I are spiritually mature enough to be tender and kind to those who try to despitefully use us and never repay evil with evil. ‘Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink’ [Romans 12:17-20a ESV], my brother-in-Christ PVT Mark Zehner.
I pray for the grieving, mourning, heartbroken, distraught and those wracked with pain of YOUR adopted sons and daughters of God dear LORD. Thank YOU, LORD that YOU are the Comforter of the widow, the widower, the orphan, the prisoner and those of the sickbed or death bed. I pray that YOU mend the heart of the broken hearted, sooth the fear and anger of the imprisoned, and bless the distraught with peace and a renewed sense of hope in these seemingly dark days.
I pray that YOUR adopted children who are parents of school-age children are wise and discerning about the health, safety, and education of each child of theirs. I pray for an increase of compassion and fun in families throughout this nation and that this will spill over into neighborhoods.
I pray LORD that the violence increasing in the democrat led cities of New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, and other cities will be diminishing and that the violence will be focused on the violent thugs including Marxist BLM and anarchist Antifa. I pray for protection of the innocent children and that genuine justice will improve throughout this nation, Australia, India, UK, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, and other relatively free nations.
LORD I pray that you take the LORD’s admonishment, on compassion and mercy, to heart:
a. ' Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.'. [James 5:11-12 ESV]
b. 'So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.' 1 [Philippians 2:1-4]
I lift each of the elected leaders, legislators, appointed officials, and judges throughout the USA, [as well as Australia, Canada, Mexico, India, Europe, Africa, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Central and South America] to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU bless each one of them with discerning compassion and tenderness for their constituents.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and your loved ones sleep well Monday night and will awake healthy on Tuesday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good Monday morning and welcome to the new week Col Burroughs. I agree with you that the best leaders understand that there is a place for compassion and tenderness along with the strengths of courage and confidence. We talk about balancing the needs of the mission and the people and this is what we need to make that happen. Too much on either side and system no longer works. How is your balance?
