Scotland voted on leaving the U.K. A few years ago. They voted to stay. Not sure they would vote to leave the U.K. Now.

The problem is that Scotland voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU so its prime minister wants another referendum on independence since the UK has materially been altered.

Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon to seek second independence referendum
The Scottish first minister’s defiance further complicates Britain’s divorce from the E.U.

The problem is that Scotland has a London Parliment. The UK has a Scottish minister but Scotland's wealth and other political stuff are British. They learned that "being free" wasn't everything financially that they thought it would be. Young and old voted to remain in the UK. The vote naturally pissed off those who wanted Scotland to be independent. So by saying that the vote was tied to "British membership in the EU" they aren't kidding anybody. Should Nicola get her way and get another vote, I'm afraid the results will remain the same.

Interesting. What will Scotland do? I don't think they will let Scotland go. I think that's where the majority of their nuclear missile silos are located. But the U.K. should watch out....the national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn

I just saw a news report that Prime Minister May has told Scotland that there will not be a new look at a further independence referendum until the Brexit works itself out. The Europeans seemed to be intent on making additional states that could then join the EU but now this British action might dissolve European unification. It is a pity in that European unification has produced the longest run of peace among the powers as they have had in modern times.

Thanks Marty! The formal submission of intent to leave the EU can now start the negotiations for either a hard or soft Brexit.
