Thanks for the timely article. I had recently read the below article from the Brookings Institute regarding vocational education and apprenticeships. I can recall growing up when apprenticeships in occupations such as die making, sheet metal, plumbing, electrical, etc were a door to greater knowledge and thus earnings. As manufacturing processes changed and modernized so did the need for apprenticeships. Around the time of the article President Trump signed an order calling for more apprenticeships and emphasis on vocational education.
