Killing them does not solve the problem of why people choose this path in the first place. It's a gang culture philosophy that lends itself to people that do not feel they have any other options. And once they drink the cool aid its all over. So we can continue to take these guys out as they show themselves with no end in sight or we can sort out what the driving force is to join these groups and take steps too alter their choices. You can equate this with the illegal immigrants we have crossing the southern border. They know the risks of the journey, and the risks of getting caught, that they are not really welcome here and yet they choose to come here anyway. This alone should lend its self some insight as to just how bad things must be at home. That the risk of death crossing a desert is better than staying put. Gangs exist when young people don't have other options (or aren't aware they have any) Police have been fighting gangs for ever. The big hammer method of crushing gangs has never been as effective as simple more cost effective methods such as after school programs, safe parks etc. But these types of interventions are not considered as PC as filling up prisons we can't afford, or fielding more police and over time. We live in a nation that believes in reaction instead of prevention whether its healthcare, gun safety, public policy etc. More bombs will fix nothing. It certainly will not deter people who feel they would be better off dead than remaining in their current situation. We can't take them all out before some of them make back here again.
