This documentary really hit home to me. My Grandfather (my Dad's Father) was in that Theater of War as an Officer in the Italian Lancers. He told me stories of the cold, the fact that his men were converted to infantry and that had to leave their beloved horses. He was proud of his men and his unit. He stayed in the Army after WW1 and emigrated to America in 1923 after refusing to swear allegiance to Mussolini.
