My sister never forgave herself for having an abortion sometime in the late 80s. It messed her up when later she could not have kids because she had a problem with her cervix and it had to be removed. She compensated by having many dogs but she couldn't forgive herself for having an abortion. I don't know what that led to her to hang around with bad men and eventually kill herself in 2015. She also had substance abuse problems with painkillers and with alcohol.

I think part of it was because my Catholic family and my dad were pro-life, it went to her head later in life where she realized she could have had a kid after the fact. She was a type of female that smoke pot and drank, unbeknownst to me, because she hung around bad kids. She did graduate from high school but she did work but she had emotional issues and she was always running from guy to guy. It was the last guy that beat her up and she already been homeless for a while before and I think the alcohol, the painkillers and the thought of being alone again after being served with a divorce is why she hung herself. Abortion, post-traumatic stress, pills and painkillers and alcohol do not mix. Throw in some drug abuse at a young age and mental instability and it all ends in disaster. The real victims of suicide are the survivors. The Unborn are also victims and often if they are born in the arms of messed up parents, and they may end up having a life of crime, poverty and more kids.

Very emotional story and I understand where she is coming from. I still stand by opinion on the subject. It's the choice of the woman because the consequences are closer to them than it is to anyone else. My first wife had a miscarriage with what would have been my first child, a son. I know what she means by "blob of tissue" as I physically held such a blob in my own hands that night. It's a moment you don't forget. Fast forward 11 years, second marriage, our first child for both of us. My wife is Catholic and Pro-Life; I'm Baptist and Pro-Choice. My opinion hasn't changed since that night for the same reason, "It's the choice of the woman because the consequences are closer to them than it is to anyone else."
