As I wait outside a local grocer to present Buddy Poppies to shoppers, I am dismayed at how few remember. When a recent arrival from England or Canada passes they proudly display the cloth Poppy that they are wearing, one that they have kept for a lifetime rather than the disposable ones that we pass out. To be fair, America has always kept its eyes fixed on the future, more so than most other nations. The only ones focused on our past are those attempting to discredit it, to vilify its heroes and tarnish its accomplishments so that they can teach our children new ways, to fundamentally change America, to surrender our freedoms in exchange for freedom from responsibility. Allow our "betters" to make our decisions for us. So, I return every Memorial Day and Veterans Day weekends to do battle. To stand as a living testament to our history and remind all of the sacrifices spent to purchase the right to self-determination. And, I stand strong so that those who want to lead America down the path to socialism and servitude will realize that there are still those who will sacrifice all to stand in their way.

Thank you CPT Jack Durish . I too find that many Americans do not know the story of this precious flower. When I tell the meaning, and how their donation helps local veterans in need, I know I strike a cord in some hearts. I hope that resonates and the future generations will have some kind of memory of the men and women who have shed more than just words and idealogue for our country.
Thank you for your service, brother.

Thanks for the post!
Was in Toronto on business a few years back and a box similar to the one pictured was prominently placed at the hotel lobby front reception desk. Got one to wear and a bunch to bring back. Had never seen this at a hotel lobby before.
Always enjoy reading/reflecting on the timeless words of LTC McCrea (link).

The Poppies of Flanders Fields
Why were poppies so numerous on the fields of Flanders? And how did they become the symbol of remembrance?
