Those MREs are down the road. While at the Muscatatuk MOUT City today, had a chance to look at the new MREs - and the even newer ones coming out now in the clear baggie. One of those items of interest - how did they get these clear wrapper ones to be smaller and lighter. They took out the cardboard, and then shrinkwrapped the items together. So you can cut open the clear baggie - and put the whole MRE in its shrinkwrap into your cargo pocket - and it fits. It pretty impressive that after 20 years - someone finally figured out that you can make them lighter and cut the bulky aspect of them as well.

Well - lighter does not mean tastes any better. Though the hot cheez-its did taste like hot cheez-its . lol

I think the bar ones will be better than the ones now - only because you can do so much more that way than can now. Will at least be interesting.. until they figure out how to make a bar omelette. :) It looks like the switch to lighter ones is pretty much the same menu batch as in the newer brown bag ones.
