Lt Col Charlie Brown - Wouldn't it be lovely if common sense was enough? There probably needs to be a caveat stating conditions under which hair in a pony or braids below the collar are not allowed and that the ranking person at the workplace, (platoon, company, whatever . . .) can also make that determination as necessary as a matter of safety. Perhaps that is already in place.

SGT Mary G. I used to braid my ponytail when it was wet, then wrap the braid around the ponytail holder and secure it with one clip. It never touched my collar, no matter what I had to do! Thanks for your input! SGT Mary G.

SPC Nancy Greene - We did have some limits during that time we both served, didn't we? I used several of the large, long bobby pins the color of my hair, placed so they could not be seen. Like you said, you just find a way to do what has to be done.

Good for the Corps!
Military service is not a requirement, it’s a choice! Adhere to the regulations or don’t join the Military! I was able to keep my waist length hair off my collar without causing me pain...by the way, my hair is naturally curly and I was only allowed one ponytail holder and clips or bobby-pins that matched my hair color. That was 83-87 when there wasn’t a vast selection of haircare products. If you want something bad enough, you find a way...just my two cents

The Marine Corps is now the only service not folding to politically correct pressure.

I fixed the headline for you.

Right? Ugh Women! You give them an inch and they take a mile. First you give them ponytails and next thing you know they want something done about the sexual assault and harassment they face at a disparate rate. When does it end??

SPC(P) Daniel Weinberger - As someone who attempted to help you figure out your transgender requests on an online website, that I had no obligation to do, this is how I get told I need to fix myself? No mention of caring for your issues, regardless of my personal opinion on them. I guess this is today's society, comment one thing that someone disagrees with and you're automatically "an NCO who flew under the radar -- and needs fixed." Fix your mindset and Soldier the fuck up.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Today's age is the realm of politically correct bullshit. "No more cursing, soldiers have feelings!" "You can have ponytails now to help Soldiers feelings!" "You now get an option on the fitness test so you feel included!" -- News flash to you and anyone else who supports the politically correctness - feelings dont win wars. Neither does your hair in a ponytail.
